In A Possible Trade, Damian Lillard Mentions “Nets” As Probable Destinations

Throughout his career, Damian Lillard has stayed devoted to the Trail Blazers, and he intends to stay in Portland for as long as the team is dedicated to succeeding right now. He does, however, have a few top picks in mind if he were to be dealt during the winter to help kickstart a rebuild.

However, for a few second, it seemed as though Lillard wouldn’t be very unhappy if the Trail Blazers opted to sell him, provided it was to either of these two groups.

In A Possible Trade, Damian Lillard Mentions “Nets” As Probable Destinations

Lillard mentioned Miami and Brooklyn as two potential landing locations during an interview on Showtime’s The Last Stand with Brian Custer when asked about a hypothetical trade. This is partly because of the guys currently on those clubs.

“Miami obviously,” Lillard said. “Miami is the obvious one. Bam [Adebayo] is my dog. Bam is my dog for real. But I mean I think Miami is the obvious one. Brooklyn is another obvious one because Mikal Bridges is my dog too. I mean, both have capable rosters.”

Since he has stated he had no interest in waiting around for a protracted rebuilding process in Portland, which has missed the playoffs the previous two seasons, rumors have been circulating about Lillard.

The Nets are really interested in Lillard, according to sources who talked to The Post. Lillard recently spoke on Brian Custer’s podcast “The Last Stand.”

Lillard has often stated that he would want to spend his whole career with the Blazers, and that hasn’t changed throughout the years.

“I want to have an opportunity to win in Portland…We got an opportunity, asset-wise, to build a team that can compete,” Lillard said. “If we can’t do that, then, obviously, like I’ve said, you know, for months now, like then, like this is a separate conversation that we would have to have.”

The great point guard usually doesn’t consider the possibility of leaving the team that selected him in 2012, so Lillard’s remarks are intriguing. However, perhaps things have changed. After all, the 32-year-old is approaching the end of his career at a time when his squad is going through a complete reconstruction.

The third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft belongs to Portland, and they have two options. To assemble a squad around Lillard, they may either attempt to trade the selection for seasoned players, or they can take the other approach.
